Nisargadatta Maharaj

Nisargadatta Maharaj was a 20th-century Indian sage of Advaita Vedanta, renowned for his direct and unadorned teachings. A simple family man and shopkeeper in Mumbai, his spiritual awakening led him to share his profound understanding with seekers from around the world. His most famous work, “I Am That,” is a collection of dialogues where he relentlessly guides students to the core of their being. He emphasized that the knowledge “I am” is the fundamental starting point for self-realization. By abiding in this sense of being, one can transcend false identification with the body-mind.
