Shunyamurti is the founder and spiritual director of the Sat Yoga Institute and Ashram, a community in Costa Rica dedicated to raising consciousness, healing, and self-realization. A key figure in the Sat Yoga movement, he is described as an adept healer, author, and teacher. His teachings, which are often called “paradigm shifting” and “profound,” are a synthesis of Eastern traditions like yoga, non-duality (Advaita), and the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi, with Western insights from modern science, depth psychology, and various psychoanalytic approaches.
His personal journey includes a background in law and psychology, extensive training in various forms of yoga, and a decade spent in a Brahmachari ashram in India. Shunyamurti’s core teachings focus on guiding people through a process of “ego death and divine rebirth.” He emphasizes that while awakening is an instantaneous realization, the path to it involves the integration of both the absolute (Shunya) and the relative (Murti) to achieve ultimate non-duality.
The Sat Yoga community aims to create a sanctuary for spiritual growth, with a focus on preparing for what they see as a coming societal collapse. The teachings and retreats offered at the ashram are designed to help people overcome obstacles, heal from trauma, and ultimately realize their “Eternal Self,” thereby ending suffering
