Swami Rama

Swami Rama was a yoga master who brought the teachings of the Himalayan tradition to the West. In the 1970s, he famously demonstrated profound control over his body, including heart rate and temperature, under scientific observation, bridging the gap between science and spirituality. He founded the Himalayan Institute to teach yoga as a holistic science for personal growth and self-realization. His core teaching, detailed in his book “Living with the Himalayan Masters,” emphasized that the ultimate goal of life is to know the Self, the divine consciousness that resides within every human being.
